Color Ink Book’s 3rd Anniversary Show

Opening Reception: Friday, July 29th, 2011 from 7-10pm

Hold on to your pants as Color Ink Book celebrates three successful years with their first ever gallery exhibit at WWA gallery with the massive group show Shades of Ray: Color Ink Book’s 3rd Anniversary Show. Salute Color Ink Book and the scores of artists in attendance at this landmark kick ass event. Snag your very own one-of-a-kind Rayola sculpture created exclusively for this show.

Be one of the first 100 guests through the door opening night and receive an exclusive mini-print, from one of Color Ink Book’s alumni – Alex Pardee. You will have the chance to win a limited edition Travis Lampe Rayola plush, thrill at live art created before your eyes, and tremble in awe at the vast selection of prints that are yours for the snatching. Bucking the vinyl toy trend, Color Ink Book enlisted master woodworker Terrell Deering to bring their vision of Rayola to three dimensional life. A wide array of artists have now put their fingerprint on each of their Rayolas, each version as diverse and interesting as the artists themselves.

About some of the Artists:
Alex Pardee’s shows attract lines around the block. Pardee is a pioneer in trans-media artistry, bringing his unique style and aesthetic to all platforms, including numerous creative director credits for music, animation, and film projects such as the recent SUCKER PUNCH as well as being a writer and apparel designer.
Alex co-founded the successful art and apparel company ZEROFRIENDS, which provides him and several other notable artists a marketable retail extension of their artwork and storytelling.
Alex lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dan Goodsell is the creator and artist behind the internationally known The World of Mr Toast follows the adventures of Mr Toast and his friends, Shaky Bacon and Joe the Egg.
Goodsell’s art has appeared in Hi-Fructose and Anorak and a host of international design publications. Exhibitions include Gallery 1988, Monkeyhouse Toys, Nickelodeon Studios, Munky King and the Ben Maltz Gallery at Otis Parsons School of Design.

Dan Goodsell is a graduate of UC Irvine School of Fine Arts. He lives in Los Angeles, California.

Luke Chueh began his career as an award winning designer and illustrator. Chueh moved to Los Angeles and has since established himself as an artist who employs minimal color schemes, simple animal characters, and a seemingly endless list of ill-fated situations. Chueh stylistically balances cute with brute, walking the fine line between comedy and tragedy. Chueh's work has been featured in galleries around the world, with some of his paintings reinterpreted into vinyl toys.
Born in Philadelphia, and raised in Fresno, CA, Luke Chueh studied graphic design at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obipso.

Miss Mindy was born into a family of artists. With an affinity to explore mood, expressions, and bizarre humor, her narratives involve girls, imps, fairies and troublemakers of the most endearing yet bizarre sort. In addition to her fine art, Miss Mindy is an accomplished illustrator, concept and production designer for such clients as Hard Rock Café, House of Blues, and Zippo. She was creative director on her own cartoon at Nickelodeon as has also worked with Warner Brothers Animation.
Mindy has written and illustrated “Miss Mindy’s Sassy Paper Doll Bonanza” and “Teenie Weenie Tales” which can be found in the “Artists Sisters: Box of Stories” book set. She’s also stepped into the vinyl toy realm. Miss Mindy lives and makes art in Eagle Rock, California.
Sam Arshawsky is a young artist who mostly loves drawing monsters, fezzes, skulls, robot monsters, zombies, shrunken heads, and things vomiting. Deeply influenced by films across the spectrum including Sci-Fi, Horror, B-movies, Comedies, Kung-Fu, and Musicals, all of this blends together sty
