FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 18, 2010 --
February 18, 2010 – Chesapeake, Virginia - Colonel Jack H. Jacobs of the United States Army (Ret.) was honored in a ceremony in New Jersey yesterday, becoming an Ambassador for Project Lifesaver International. To help combat the issue of wandering, Project Lifesaver International helps train public safety agencies to conduct search and rescue efforts by using state-of-the-art technology to find those who wander due to conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, autism, Down syndrome, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injury. Nearly 60% of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease will wander at some point during the progression of the disease, and many will wander repeatedly. Additionally, according to a survey conducted by the National Autism Association, nearly 92% of parents felt that their autistic child was at risk of wandering.
According to the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Project Lifesaver International, Chief Gene Saunders, an Ambassador is an important person who helps raise awareness of Project Lifesaver through their daily contacts and activities and works with the organization to expand the program to communities around the country and the world.
Colonel Jack Jacobs retired after 20 years on active duty in the army, and during his service, he was awarded the country's highest award - "The Medal of Honor." He was honored by Project Lifesaver’s Chief Executive Officer, Gene Saunders, and Chief of Operations, Tommy Carter, in a ceremony on Wednesday, February 17th at the Somerset County Sheriff's Office in New Jersey. Jack Jacobs currently serves as a military analyst for a major news network and is proud to accept this award.
He stated, “Project Lifesaver is doing some of the most important work in our communities every single day. They are trained officers and they are prepared to act, with no notice, to preserve the safety of our neighbors and loved ones. Not only does Project Lifesaver train public safety agencies and offer a community oriented program, but they help save lives, and it doesn’t get much better than that.”
