Project to Widen Playa del Carmen Real Estate's Beaches Begins

The idea of widening the beaches in the Playa del Carmen Estate area has been in the planning stage for several months now, and the physical work is now in its first stages. With the arrival of machinery and piping for depositing the sand, the widening of main attraction for MLS property searchers in the area has officially begun.

The recovery of beaches in Playa del Carmen is beginning at Constituyentes Avenue, moving south through the downtown stretch of beachfront, up to the Sandos Playacar. On Saturday, January 2, a heavy industrial crane delivered about 10 pipes to be used for dredging and depositing of sand, about 36" in diameter, and about 20 feet long, with 40 more to arrive. The work was scheduled to begin on January 6. Due security measures are also being taken; signs and fences for the safety of passers-by were put up. Public works personnel are present, as well as members of the city's Civil Protection and Public Safety forces, as well as representatives from the Federal Electricity Commission, which is supervising the project.
