Purple Ribbon Council Names Patrick McIvor Pretty in Purple National Campaign Chair and Spokesperson

Each May, the Purple Ribbon Council hosts the national Pretty in Purple campaign. Formerly called Girls Night Out to Cut Out Domestic Abuse™, Pretty in Purple is a month-long fundraising and awareness effort benefitting the Council’s Purple Ribbon Fund for Children. The campaign utilizes the heightens grassroots awareness on how to prevent recognize and respond to domestic abuse; mobilize salon professionals and grassroots cause champions to help break the silence, the cycle and save lives; and build a powerful and sustainable national prevention awareness campaign to help stop domestic abuse BEFORE it starts.
“Patrick is genuinely passionate about Purple Ribbon Council’s work. He is a respected leader and educator in the salon and spa industry who gets the big picture of our mission to stop domestic abuse before it starts. Patrick brings great energy, a kind heart and a national network of trusted colleagues to the Pretty in Purple Days campaign. We are thrilled he has chosen to partner with us to support, benefit and empower children orphaned by domestic violence and to raise much-needed awareness on root-cause prevention,” states Donna Bartos, founder, Purple Ribbon Council.
“I have two sisters, two daughters and work in an industry that is 87% female. I feel it is my responsibility to help create awareness of domestic abuse and to support the Purple Ribbon Council and their work to stop this social disease. Everyone deserves to be healthy and safe. I am proud to be involved in this salon-based, community-based cause and hope salons across the country will join me in this inspiring campaign by hosting a Pretty in Purple event this coming May,” states McIvor.
McIvor is urging salon professionals to register by March 1 and commit to hosting Pretty in Purple days in May. Salons can log on to www.prettyinpurple.org to register and get access to the simple steps to follow to host an event.

“Salons are safe havens for those needing a temporary escape from unhealthy relationships. Stylists and clients share information that is very personal and sensitive, with this program, stylists are in a position to profoundly help clients implicated by domestic abuse in a non-threatening environment by raising awareness and brining hope, healing and happiness to children orphaned by domestic violence,” adds McIvor.
