FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Denver, Colorado, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 17, 2012 -- Author, artist and recovering alcoholic Adrian Evans announced today the release of Woeful Wisdom, A Lifetime of Bad Decisions, published by Outskirts Press. Evans’ inspirational work should be required reading for any 12 Step or Al-Anon program as it not only portrays so dramatically the destruction of a life sucked into the dark whirlpool of alcoholic binges, but also shows exactly how one man pulls himself out of this maelstrom and – while not “cured” or magically transformed – has learned to live a productive, successful life without the escapist crutch of alcohol.

Insanity, the author notes, is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Woeful Wisdom opens with Eric waking up yet one more morning from an alcoholic stupor, grappling with his withdrawal induced case of body wrenching shakes, and dragging himself down to the labor pool to earn enough money for another bottle and another couple bucks toward the back rent due on his flop house room.

As the thought processes of Eric are followed throughout the days and weeks of his tortured life, his plans and strategies almost seem to make sense because he is, like many alcoholics, an intelligent man and his calculations for his future could so easily be believed – even by Eric himself – if it weren’t for the intervening factor of alcohol.

The author’s careful exposure of the troubles and problems of the alcoholic will ring true for anyone suffering from an addiction and anyone who is connected to an alcoholic or addict. Equally real, and understandable, will be the change that Eric makes to finally get a grip on his life and direct it to an alcohol free future by finding his ability to face, not flee from what comes his way.

Sanity is the ability to change, and Woeful Wisdom offers the inspiration to change.

“Woeful Wisdom is the very best book I’ve ever read on the subject of alcoholism, giving the reader an in-depth view of how the disease grips the mind, heart and soul…but how it’s not hopeless.”
Richard L. Spears, Ex-consultant to the Alcoholism Research Information Center

About the author:

Adrian Evans was born in a farmhouse in western Kentucky during the Great Depression. A recovering alcoholic retired in Florida from his own house painting business, Mr. Evans is still using his brush to please and beautify by doing oil paintings -- landscapes, seascapes, stills and abstracts. With over five hundred paintings in his repertoire, one of his abstract paintings, depicting the attack on the World Trade Center, which he titled “Evil,” is in response to President George Bush’s labeling the attackers as “Evil.” Some of his works can be viewed at www.arts-by-adrian-r.com.
