Rapha House, www.raphahouse.org, is an international organization providing safety and recovery to children who are victims of human trafficking. Rapha exists to love, rescue and heal children who have lived through the horrors of slavery and sexual exploitation.
Rapha is the Hebrew word for healing. Rapha has established safe houses that protect, educate, counsel, teach, and provide vocational training and social skills to girls that have been damaged by trafficking. The end result is that the girls heal, grow, learn to trust and love, learn a vocation, and can rejoin their communities as productive citizens.
Racquetball players, first in Florida and now nationally, have embraced Rapha House with their generosity and kindness. At racquetball tournaments throughout Florida, we have sold purses, journals, wallets, scarves, jewelry, and totes that the Rapha girls have made to support themselves. Once the players hear about the cause, we regularly sell out all the merchandise we have. Tournament directors have sought us out to come and tell the Rapha story and sell their merchandise.
In conjunction with the 2012 IRT Florida Spring Break Pro-Am, www.FloridaSpringBreakProAm.com, we are having our first RAPHA HOUSE ONLINE CHARITY AUCTION with online bidding beginning February 1st. The response has already been amazing. Manufacturers such as Ektelon, Head, Wilson, Gearbox, and Eforce have all donated multiple items for the auction.
The IRT (www.IRT-Tour.com), WPRO (www.wprotour.com), NMRA (www.nmra.info), FRA (www.floridaracquetball.com), IRF (www.internationalracquetball.com), and USAR (www.usaracquetball.com), have contributed. The IRT Network (www.IRTNetwork.com) has donated a LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION and has named Rapha House an Official Charity of the IRT Network.
Many individuals in our sport have also stepped up and are supporting the auction. We are very encouraged and thankful to the racquetball community.
Here's how it will work. We are currently loading auction items into the auction site (auction.perconti.com). By January 23rd, you will be able to begin viewing the items on the auction site. Starting on February 1st, you will be able to begin bidding on items. We will continue to accept donations and add items to the auction until February 27th so check back often to see what's new. Items will be on display at the IRT Florida Spring Break Pro-Am at Harbour Island Athletic Club in Tampa from March 8-11th. Bidding will close on March 11th at 10:00am. We encourage you to bid often and high – remember , all proceeds go to the kids at Rapha House.
