Rapid City Travel Agency to take railways through Rockies on California Zephyr trip in March

RAPID CITY, S.D. “ If you've always wanted see the countryside by railway, now is the time to take in the views. ABS Travel Group is taking a nine-day, eight-day rail extravaganza from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.

The trip departs Saturday, March 2 from Rapid City and returns Sunday, March 10. Travelers will board The California Zephyr, The Pacific Surfliner and The Coast Starlight to experience breathtaking scenery from the snow-capped Colorado Rockies and Sierra Nevadas to the Southern California coastline.

The fully-escorted tour includes transportation from Rapid City to Denver, then a pre-tour overnight in Denver. From Denver, passengers will board the California Zephyr and venture through the majestic Rockies. Then there are two overnights in San Francisco, including a city tour and cruise around Alcatraz.

After that, passengers will board the Coast Starlight Train to San Luis Obispo for two nights. The following morning, passengers will take the Pacific Surf-Liner day service to San Diego and spend two nights there, with highlights to include a city tour and whale watching. Travelers will fly back to Rapid City from San Diego.

Cost for the trip is $2,495 per person, based on double occupancy. Passengers will share a œsleepette private compartment in bunk bed style on the trains. For an extra $500 per person, there are private facilities available in the deluxe compartment. Many meals are included in the trip along the way.
