Rare Bruce Lee Student Appearance In Livonia, Michigan

DeMile, a first generation student of the infamous Bruce Lee during his Seattle "fighting" period, comes to Metro Detroit to conduct three seminars on his style, Wing Chun Do, at Ambrose Academy in Livonia, MI. This rare appearance may be the only opportunity for Bruce Lee enthusiasts to meet and train with Mr. DeMile.

DeMile comes to Michigan at the request of his good friend and student, Rocco Ambrose, who was named Inheritor to Wing Chun Do in 2003. Ambrose is proud to say that Wing Chun Do has been a Michigan original since 1979, with the first school in Monroe, Michigan. Ambrose Academy has been carrying on the legacy since November 1988, celebrating its 23-year anniversary in business.

In 1959, James DeMile began his martial arts career in Seattle, Washington, under the direction of the legendary Bruce Lee. As one of Bruce Lee's first generation students, Mr. DeMile had the opportunity to assist Lee in developing his unique fighting skills. It was also DeMile's privilege to appear in Bruce Lee's only book, The Philosophical Art of Self Defense.

One of the foremost authorities of modern wing chun, DeMile has adapted Bruce Lee's modifications of the ancient art of Wing Chun and created Wing Chun Do, a practical self-defense system for the 21st century student.

DeMile is listed in Bob Wall's Who's Who in the Martial Arts, The Genealogy of Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) Family by the Ving Tsun Athletic Association, The Original Martial Arts Encyclopedia by John Corcoran and Emil Farkas, and Bruce Lee's Fighting Spirit by Bruce Thomas. DeMile has written many articles and has been interviewed for national and international magazines, featured in over 50 articles. He has appeared in the films, Weapons of Death and The Curse of the Dragon and twice on the national TV program, Entertainment Tonight.

He has written four martial art books on Wing Chun Do as well as produced a number of training videos, including Bruce Lee's One and Three Inch Power Punch, one of the most devastating strikes in martial arts. DeMile has traveled the world teaching his dynamic self-defense concepts and techniques to students, police, the military, and most recently to flight attendants at Virgin Airlines in Australia. His most famous student for learning the One and Three Inch Power Punch was, at that time, 72 year old Professor Wally Jay, creator of Small Circle Jujitsu, who passed away this year. DeMile will be conducting a seminar on the dynamics of this punch on Sunday.

DeMile also holds a master's degree in psychology and has produced a series of self-help CDs, Personal Developmental Meditation and Accelerated Learning, that help individuals develop and tap into their potential through relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques. He will cover many of these topics and a question and answer period regarding his training with Bruce Lee.
