The German solid bar and tube cold saw cutting specialist Rattunde & Co GmbH (Ludwigslust, Germany) offers numerous, and often patented, workpiece measuring systems for their solid bar and tube cold saw machining centers. These robust, yet precise, measuring systems operate with minimal standard deviation. During the cold saw cutting cycle, Rattunde measuring systems can inspect workpiece length, circular runout, end squareness, outside diameter, wall thickness and much more; ensuring zero defect parts for even the tightest tolerances.
Quicker, more profitable, and yet precise: The number of requirements for production processes is undoubtedly increasing. Those wishing to deliver perfect products to customers need technical equipment that operates at high speed and guarantees faultless products. This only works, however, if the machine “knows” what it is doing – and this requires exact measuring data allowing a comparison of actual dimensions to target ranges.
To fulfill this requirement, different and specialized measuring systems are available for the high performance saw machining centers from Rattunde. For example, the sawing centers ACS®+CFM (cold saw cutting and chamfering) and ACS®+BDM (cold saw cutting and brush-deburring) can be fitted with a precise length measuring system. Thanks to the modular design of the machines, this can be done with no difficulty. Mechanical measurement with precise measuring sensors determines and records the exact length of the workpiece with a standard deviation of ≤ 0.001 mm. Workpieces outside the required tolerance are discarded immediately by the length measuring system. Moreover a patented length measuring device for multiple cut is available for ACS®+BDM centers measuring up to four workpieces simultaneously.
Also available from Rattunde is the Step Conveyor Bridge (SCB) for further transport and inspection of the solid bar and tube cut pieces. Utilizing state of the art laser systems, circular runout and end squareness can be checked (standard deviation ≤ 0.00375 mm each). Likewise, the Rattunde patented measuring system “Penguin 1“ can perform laser-based measurements of outside diameter, wall thickness and inside diameter, all seamlessly integrated on the SCB.
Rattunde holds an additional patent for the Contour Measuring System (CMS). Precision mechanical sampling is used to measure chamfers and radiuses on machined tube ends. CMS can be added as a module to the cold saw cut machining center or it can be used independently for statistical evaluations of samples. CMS can be integrated into existing IT networks for easy data gathering.
