Tesla Motors, the leading electric car manufacturer, announced that Ravi Simhambhatla joined Tesla as Vice President, Information Technology and Business Applications and will be responsible for driving the strategy for creating a world-class information technology platform at the company.
Ravi is an information technology industry veteran with more than 19 years of experience. Prior to Tesla, he was a founding team member and Chief Information Officer at Virgin America, an award winning airline. He joined Virgin America in early 2006 as the Director of Architecture and Integration, and was appointed CIO in June, 2009. Ravi played a leading role in developing Virgin America’s innovative, guest-friendly and cost-effective technology platforms, including the development of data centers, storage subsystems, core application infrastructure and integration, and the architecture of its award-winning web site.
