FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 11, 2010 --
While David Walliams hit the road alongside Fearne Cotton and Davina McCall for a 1,000 mile sponsored bike ride, and Blue Peter’s Helen Skelton has kayaked across the Amazon, Tunbridge Wells based gap year company Real Gap have also been doing their bit for Sport Relief 2010. Working in partnership with Thomson Sport the Real Gap team have planned a whole host of fundraising activities in aid of the Sport Relief fund.
Real Gap have been working in association with charities and volunteer organisations across the globe for a number of years, sending thousands of volunteers to assist with community, environmental and wildlife projects. Keen to show their support for Sport Relief the team have already begun an impressive fundraising schedule. In the past few weeks staff have been able to showcase their culinary prowess and taste in fashion with a ‘Get your kit on’ sports clothes day, in-office Pancake Day and bring and buy cake sale, raising over £200.
The fundraising work is not done yet, however, and more events are planned to induce the people of Tunbridge Wells to assist Real Gap in their efforts for Sport Relief. On the 20th March staff will be hitting the Tunbridge Wells high street dressed in a variety of retro sports gear, with empty buckets in hand ready to collect donations from generous locals. Once they’ve recovered from a day pounding the streets there will be yet more work ahead for the tireless team, with the biggest event of all; the Real Gap Swimming the Channel Challenge!
From the 29th March to the 1st April, swimmers will be taking part in an epic mission to cover all 35, 553 metres that make the breadth of the English Channel. Participants will be heading to their local pools across the 4 day period in an effort to cover the astounding width of the channel and reach the Real Gap Sport Relief target of £1000! Those who wish to donate can do so at http://www.mysportrelief.com/TeamPage.aspx?langPref=en-CA&teamID=44749 or come along to LA Fitness in Tunbridge Wells to watch a select few swimmers take the plunge.
Real Gap Sport Relief Champion Nicola Needham was happy to share her views on the importance of Sport Relief: ‘It is great for Real Gap to get involved with such a well recognised charity event. We offer many worthwhile volunteer projects all over the world and it is great to see our volunteers offer their support to local organisations and the local people. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to support a cause such as Sport Relief who help local organisations and people both in the UK and abroad and help make a difference, just like we do!’
