RIPA International delivers development program To Gambia's Management Development Institute as part of the Gambia Public Service Reform strategy
RIPA International partners with Gambia's Management Development Institute to build capacity and develop sustainable training strategies to assist in the Gambia Public Service Reform Strategy.

The Royal Institute of Public Administration – RIPA International – recently undertook a successful development programme at the Gambia’s Management Development Institute (MDI) aimed at providing the 25 members in attendance with the capability to develop a sustainable and effective training function.
The Training the Trainer programme was part of the Gambian Public Service Reform strategy to bring about a comprehensively reformed civil service that is efficient, transparent and accountable and able to design policies, implement programmes and deliver services to the citizens at national and decentralized levels.
The programme delivered over the 10 day period covered a wide range of key areas for Training of Trainers such as:
• Linking learning and development needs objectives and outcomes to the organisational outcomes
• Exploring different ways of learning
• Putting training into context
• Introducing the six stage learning cycle
• Prioritising training
• Validation of training
• Evaluation and return on investment
• Skills and qualities of a trainer
• The importance of effective communication
• Understanding different learning styles and the importance of this when designing training
• Structure of a training session
• Training needs analysis and Individual needs analysis
• Training plans
• Understanding the importance of the training environment
• Training methodology
• The use of a range of training aids
• Preparing and undertaking training sessions with training session plans
Due to additional client needs certain sessions were customised to meet the specific requirements of participants.
The Director of Studies who delivered the programme effectively ensured the creation of organisational harmony in identifying an Organisational Action Plan so that the learning could be transferred into the workplace after the programme had been completed.
Action Learning Logs were also used on a daily basis to record all topics covered, and individual learning, in order that this experiential learning could be inculcated by the organisation.
