RREDC, Humboldt County Aviation Division Work With Strategic eMarketing to Launch Customer Friendly Website to Encourage New Airlines, New Passengers

California, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 3, 2012 -- Eureka, CA – The Redwood Region Economic Development Commission (RREDC) and the County Aviation Division have been actively working to attract new airlines to the Arcata-Eureka Airport. To help with this effort, RREDC recently launched a website dedicated to moving the project forward and providing better information for local air passengers. The new site can be found at http://www.flyhumboldt.org.

Only one airline currently flies out of Humboldt County, leaving locals and visitors with too few options. However, at a recent regional air service conference, RREDC and Humboldt County Aviation Division staff met with six airlines to present market data and other materials that show the benefits of providing air service in Humboldt County.

“We have a real advantage over other small airports,” said Emily Jacobs, program coordinator with the Aviation Division. Jacobs noted that the Arcata-Eureka Airport’s runway is now longer than that of the John Wayne Airport in Orange County. “This makes us very competitive with other regional airports” added Tom Mattson, Humboldt County Director of Public Works.

RREDC executive director Gregg Foster noted the importance of air service for the local economy. “I get calls and emails every week from local business owners and managers encouraging our efforts to expand service. Connecting to the national and global marketplace is more important than ever,” said Foster.

Strategic eMarketing provided critical support for the update of the website. The goal is to develop an online presence that can answer questions from airline representatives looking to locate in the area as well as passengers looking to fly in or out.

“An airport needs a good customer service-focused website as an entrance to the airport and now we have that,” Foster said.
