Sales are Increasing for Hybrid Cars, says Auto Relief Group

The sale of hybrid cars in U.S.A for the month of April was 23,654 units. And according to latest statistics, sales of hybrid cars have jumped to nearly 20 percent in May compared to last month. This upward trend is expected to continue as gas prices continue to remain high.

Among all the hybrid cars Toyota Prius contributes half of the sales and statistics look strong for this brand. Even though Toyota is suffering from negative publicity due to numerous recalls, Toyota Prius still enjoys consumer confidence. Other big players in hybrid car market are Ford, Honda and BMW who are also improving their sales in this segment.

Numerous other automobile companies are venturing into hybrid car market as they are developing new models of hybrid cars. Presently hybrid car sales represent around 2-3 percent of the total car market. But marketers have understood the importance of environment friendly cars and are banking upon these cars to boost their sales.

The performance of hybrid cars in the car market depends on the prices of gasoline to a great extent. The recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico may have created some demand for other alternatives as fuels for cars. But as of now gas prices are comparatively cheaper than petroleum or electricity. This is preventing the sales of hybrid cars to gain momentum which will allow it to capture major share in the car market.

Nevertheless, these hybrid cars have their own niche market and enjoy a favorable response from its customers.
