The ActiveE is offering performance, design, and fuel economy.

A total of 700 BMW 1-Series sedans have been turned into the BMW ActiveE electric car. Each is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that sits in the tunnel and gas-tank area. The ActiveE delivers 168 horsepower and can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 9 seconds.

The BMW ActiveE produces a smooth, efficient ride down the road. When the “EcoPro” button is pushed, this mode allows the vehicle to conserve energy and fuel. Drivers can actually set speed alerts on the ActiveE to prevent energy waste on the highway.

From the exterior, the BMW ActiveE looks like the BMW 1 Series Coupe. Behind the gas door on the right rear fender is the charging port where drivers can charge their battery. Inside, the ActiveE can comfortably seat up to four adults in its leather seats. In the front, passengers can enjoy heated seats, which are actually in place to eliminate the use of the car’s heater.
