American automakers continue to fall short as Japanese manufacturing proves once again that the overall reliability of brands like Toyota and Scion retain their status as some of the most reliable vehicles on the road. Consumer Reports tested over 280 vehicles and compiled a list of the best and the worst vehicles of 2013. Among the top brands ranked for reliability Lexus, Toyota and Scion have all been recognized for there performance and longevity.

Scion has built its brand by building progressive eye popping cars and this latest edition proves that the engineers at Scion still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Being competitive with brands like the Ford Mustang, Scion raises the bar and takes a shot at the top spot with this latest version of the FR-S

The Ford Mustang was knocked out of the top spot as Consumer Reports' favorite sports car by the 2013 Scion FR-S. As a rear wheel drive sports car, hard-core enthusiasts are going to love its aggressive handling and drift-ability. As a product of Toyota, consumers will love its cost of ownership and reliability factor. The Scion FR-S is a 2-door, 4-passenger sports coupe, available in two trims, the 6MT and the 6AT with a base price of just under $25,000. Its amazing attention to detail and curved sport styling has eyes turning everywhere. As reliable as it is sporty, the Scion FR-S makes the top of the list and leaves little to the imagination. It looks aggressive and it delivers. Built for speed and performance, Toyota and Subaru team up to bring you a great sports car with a reasonable price tag and comparable fuel economy.

With similar features, the Toyota FR-S and Subaru BRZ deliver a great combination of both reliability and performance. It comes with 6-speed manual transmission with an option for the 6-speed automatic transmission as well. Both the manual and automatic come with a 200-horspower 2.0 liter H4 engine. The manual transmission gets 22-mpg around town and 30-mpg on the open road and the automatic gets an estimated 25-mpg in the city and 34-mpg on the highway. If we had to use three words to describe this covetous beauty they would be exciting, affordable and most importantly reliable.
