The tests were done on the Cressi MC9 Ellipse Black Balance, Scuba Pro MK11/C300 and Sherwood Scuba Magnum. All three scuba dive regulators come with a lifetime warranty. Many of the competitors come with a North American limited life time warranty. The ports at 2HP; 4LP, and the second stages adjustments were the same as well with Ventri. The Cressi has a pneumatically balance second stage and the Sherwood and Scuba Pro have an unbalanced demand valve. They were all nitrox compatible up to 40% with exception of the Cressi it is not CE certified above 22% O2. According to the test done, the Cressi has a hyper (over) balance diaphragm. The Scuba Pro had a balanced diaphragm. Sherwood has a balanced piston. When it comes to the weight of these regulators for diving the Sherwood is 2.9 lbs, Scuba Pro 2.4 lbs and the Cressi the lightest of the three weights is 2.05. These dive regulators are exceptional scuba regulators. Then when comes to the price the Cressi and the Scuba Pro cost on the average around 470.00 dollars compared the Sherwood comes in at around 370.00 dollars and was selected ScubaLab’s Best Value for 2011. There were many other regulators tested as well, to see more results see Scuba Diving Magazine.
What is really eye opening about the ScubaLab results are how advanced the dive equipment has become in the recent years and the pride and ingenuity of the scuba industry and their competitive desire to be the best and more importantly the safest scuba equipment you can buy. At the end of the day it is the needs of the scuba diver and the budget they have to spend on dive gear.
