Bay Area sculptor Jeff Owen announces the acceptance of his sculpture œDiva into the Pacific Rim Sculptors Group exhibition œBeyond GAGA, a juried sculpture exhibition featuring 31 sculptors from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The sculptors accepted the challenge of creating a piece of artwork that is their vision of what would be beyond the famous singer Lady Gaga. Accepted artists include: Pamela Blotner, Sarah Burdick, Arthur Comings, Kathy de Rosas, Rene Dayan-Whitehead, Eileen Fitz-Faulkner, Yong Han, Peter Hiers, Maru Hoeber, Al Honig, John Hughes, Eric Jacobson, Hope Kusy, Magels Landet, Bette Linderman, Jiajun Lu, Karin Lusnak, Alison J. McLennan, Diana Mihalakis, Jann Nunn, Carrie Ohm, Jeff Owen, Rosy Penhallow, Darrell Phelps, Virginia Stearns, Charles Stinson, Lynne Todaro, Ama Torrance, Patricia Vader, Stuart Wagner, Corinne Whitaker. Jurors: DeWitt Cheng and Lauren Baines.

Reception to be held February 1st from 7 to 10pm at Works/San José in San José, CA. 365 South Market Street, downtown San José.

The Beyond GAGA exhibit runs from February 1st through March 9th, 2013. Open Thursday Noon to 4pm, Friday Noon to 6pm, and Saturday Noon to 4pm.

Jeff Owen's sculptures emerge with patterns, taking one piece of steel, adding to it, or deleting from it. When a sculpture encompasses all of his creative energy, it is finished. His technique is brute force, decide-at-the-moment. Interesting shapes of metal; the patterns, textures, and grains; all entice him to create. He resists conformity and mass production.
