Black Earth...
In the first book in the series, End of the Innocence, on the evening of Nathan Pierce's high school graduation, the stars began to fall from the sky. With the world in panic, an unforgettable cast of characters comes together to face off against a darkness that threatens to destroy the planet.
The sequel to the book that has been praised for having “a Christian background that doesn't come off corny” finds Nathan Pierce and Cynthia Ruin in Tucson, Arizona, attempting to escape a hotel guarded by the military and local police. What looms on the horizon for them is nothing either of them could have imagined, as an entity known as Legion begins to seep from the fallen stars, threatening to destroy the human race. Meanwhile, the President of the United States struggles with her allegiance to a dark adviser as Daisy Pierce’s execution draws near.
“When I started writing Black Earth, I wanted to create a sci-fi/fantasy series that had all the elements of a great adventure while also incorporating themes of redemption. Some Christian fiction has a bad rap as being corny and lame when really it’s just the execution of the story that needs to be tweaked a bit. Black Earth tweaks those things and rounds them out to bring a great story full of love and hate, rape and murder, loyalty and traitorous ways to an audience wanting more in their science fiction and fantasy. Think of it as a combination of C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia with Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. ”
David N. Alderman lives in Gilbert, Arizona, and self-publishes all of his fiction. When he’s not at the computer writing or marketing, he enjoys video games or getting lost in a good book. Black Earth is his second major novel series and originally began as a short story that he wrote for National Novel Writing Month in 2007.
Black Earth: The Broken Daisy is printed through Createspace and available in paperback through davidnalderman.com and various online retailers. Retail price is $17.95. (ISBN# 978-1-453-82219-7) Digital editions are also available for popular ebook readers.
