Washington D.C, June 8: The Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN) proudly announces its 2011 Awards Banquet on June 9, 2011, at the Double Tree Hotel, in Crystal City, 300 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, VA 22202, from 06:30pm – 09:30pm.
The Honorable Gary Locke, Secretary of the Commerce Department and Ambassador-Designate to China, will deliver the keynote speech, introduced by Former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta.
The 2011 AAGEN Awards Banquet will honor Asian American Pacific Islander top leaders with the following awards:
Stanley Suyat Memorial Leadership Award: Dr. Yann King
AAGEN Excellence in Public Service Award: Major General Antonio Taguba
AAGEN Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award: Secretary Gary Locke
AAGEN would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for the AAPI trail blazers for breaking the bamboo ceiling for our AAPI federal employees.
The 2011 AAGEN Leadership Training Conference and Awards Banquet with the theme: “Learn from the Best: Strategies for Innovative Leadership” hopes to accentuate the unique contributions of Secretary Locke, Major General Antonio Taguba, and Dr. Yann King, to this nation and to the Asian American Pacific Islanders.
The AAGEN Scholarship Program student awardees will also be announced at the banquet. These scholarships are financial assistance to encourage our future AAPI leaders in their paths to attain leadership positions in the Federal, State and Local Governments.
