Seeking Alpha Review Raves About Murder of Lehman Brothers

November 8, 2009

In a review posted a few days ago, Seeking Alpha raves about the Murder of Lehman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 8, 2009 -- Favorable reviews of "The Murder of Lehman Brothers, An Inisder's Look at the Global Meltdown" continue to accumulate. During the last week, the London Review of Books was first to praise "The Murder of Lehman Brothers." The review posted on Seeking Alpha followed.

Seeking Alpha commented:

"What's interesting about this read is that it provides you with a different viewpoint of the crisis from the inside."

"...this account is fresh, opinionated, and truly has a tenured insider feel."

" Given that so much greed (and irrationality) often abounds on Wall Street, the fact that Tibman's work takes aim at this is laudable. "

"...details how [Lehman] almost went under 10 years earlier had it not been for the U.S. government's bailout of Mexico at the time"

"The tone provides a very easy to read 'everyday' style that is refreshing."

The Murder of Lehman Brothers has yet to receive a highly negative review, making it the most uniformly well-reviewed Lehman book, and equal to the best reviewed financial crisis books. In particular, most reviews to date have commented on the unrelentingly honest, tenured tone of a book that bluntly paints an expansive picture of what happened at Lehman Brothers. The book includes the most detailed history of Dick Fuld's long career at the firm. Unlike many other authors of crisis books, Tibman over a roughly twenty year career at Lehman, both interacted with and directly observed the key players on multiple occasions over time. The Murder of Lehman explains how the firm, after nearly going under in the mid-1990s, created state-of-the-art risk management, only to throw this under the bus and thereby return to faulty risk taking that this time killed the firm. What is distinct about Tibman's book is that he places all this in a far broader context, explaining in plain English the many factors outside the firm that created the conditions for the Lehman disaster. Tibman in clear, understandable language does not hesitate to take on the various presidential administrations, regulators, Congress, rating agencies, investment banks themselves, and others who contributed to the perfect storm that Led to Lehman's collapse. The ominous takeaway from this book is that many of these factors have not yet been addressed and may bite us again.

Tibman said, "It is particularly satisfying to see the fine reviews that have come from such finance-intensive sources as Seeking Alpha and The Deal Magazine. That they find much to laud in the Murder of Lehman Brothers represents the endorsement of my peers."
