The Kansas Department of Health and Environment just completed their Annual Survey at Serenity Home Health in Wichita, Kansas. The 4-day survey was, once again, “deficiency free” and leaves Serenity with a perfect “zero deficiency” record since the company’s founding in 2005. KDHE surveyors were in the Serenity home offices and have full access to all client and employee records. Surveyors check for proper charting and make home visits with caregivers to see if care is being properly performed, per the policies and procedures of the agency as well as state and federal regulations. They also do extensive auditing of employee records, which include a review of background checks, proper licensure and making sure that all employees are compliant with applicable employee health records.

“We have always been deficiency free,” said Lars Stamp, CEO, “but given the complexity of our IT initiatives and operational adjustments, coupled with major changes to Medicare regulations, this is a particularly noteworthy achievement. We implemented a Point of Care digital charting system in November, and as we trained all staff members and transitioned to a paperless system, we were also forced to maintain both systems for several months to ensure a seamless transition. This was a major challenge and our team members really responded.”

Therapy Manager Summer McDonald, OT/R, gives all the credit to the caregivers. “We have the best team in the area and this survey, under these difficult conditions, really underscores that. Congratulations and thank you to all the clinicians who provide such exceptional and exemplary care to our patients. ”

Director of Nursing Betty Foster is quick to acknowledge the support of Serenity’s office staff. “This team has really pulled together over the last year.
