FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grants Pass,
Oregon,
United States of America
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 14, 2011 --On September 19, 2011, Steve Lee, Founder of Kombucha Wonder Drink, a ready-to-drink version of the fermented tea from Russia, was interviewed by Sharon Kleyne on her show Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water. The interview may be heard any time on Voice America, Apple iTunes, Green Talk Network, VoiceAmerica and Amazon.com.
Steve Lee lives in Portland, Oregon, and was a co-founder of the highly successful Stash Tea Company, sold in 1993 to a Japanese tea distributor. He currently owns Universal Tea, an importer of tea, herbs and spices. The company markets Kombucha Wonder Drink in the United States.
Tea, brewed with water from the leaves of a plant called Camilla sinese, was first introduced 5,000 years ago, probably in China. Kombucha only goes back about 70 years, the Siberia, when some tea was left to brew in water for a week and became highly fermented. Using the same fermenting bacteria as a starter (much like sourdough or yogurt), the drink became popular in Russia.
Sharon Kleyne recommends purchasing kombucha already brewed, since brewing can be difficult. Kombucha Wonder Drink is marketed as a "ready to drink" tea and requires no brewing. Steve Lee explained that Kombucha Wonder Drink is pasteurized, which means there will be no further fermentation. With unpasteurized kombucha, fermentation will continue. Extreme care should be taken with unpasteurized kombucha, brewed in water at home.
According to Steve Lee, kombucha is believed to cleanse the intestinal system, promote detoxification and elimination, and promote weight loss and stress reduction. It is believed to benefit certain probiotics, beneficial stomach flora that help with digestion. Lee notes that some websites make many more claims about kombucha that may be unfounded.
Sharon asked about the water in which the Steve's kombucha product is brewed, noting that "good water makes good tea." Drinking any tea, especially tea with no sugar, hydrates the body (unlike coffee, soft drinks and juice) and benefits dehydration symptoms such as dry eye, dry skin and dry mouth.
This ready-to-drink product comes in eight flavors and is available in 4,000 retail stores nationwide, mostly health and natural food stores. It is also available on tap. The product contains no alcohol or sugar
