December 5-6, 2009 the American Kennel Club National Lure Coursing Championship was held at the Double H Ranch in Florence, TX. There were four open and five champion Ibizan Hounds competing on Saturday. The young, home bred by Shefaro, handsome UKC Ch. Shefaro Lily's Matinee Idol (http://www.shefaro.com/matineeidol) won Best of Breed for a five point major over five champions, including a MULTI Best in Field winning Ibizan Hound. The competition was tought, but Idol smoked 'em! On Sunday, Shefaro's wonderful and sweet Ibizan Hound Best in Field lure courser Spirit, SC (http://www.shefaro.com/spirit) won a four point major. Idol's mom, Best in Field Shefaro lure coursing and AKC/UKC Champion Lily (http://www.shefaro.com/lily) won second for three points. Lily needs a major to finish her field championship and become Shefaro's first DC (Dual Champion). There were Ibizan Hounds competing from as far away as Arkansas and Minnesota. It was a glorious weekend regardless of the cold weather. Hospitality was second to none and the trophies were beautiful.
