ShirayasDream release their third album "Venus Calls"

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 9, 2010 -- Whereas their first two albums ”Magic Carpet Nights” and ”Floating in Space” mainly contain songs about travelling to oriental fairytale worlds and outer space, the third album makes ShirayasDream and their fans return to reality. Singer Anna Aliena admits, ”Personal events inspired me to focus my lyrics on disappointing love attachments.” Catchy tunes like ”On the Other Star”, ”False Astronomy” and ”Lights Go Out” tell you stories about deception, separation, failed romances and shattered hopes.

Musically “Venus Calls“ can be regarded as a successor of the two debut albums. ”On the new album I merged some stylistic elements from ’Magic Carpet Nights’ and ’Floating in Space’. Songs like ’Run if You Can’ and ’Destiny’ are an intended reference to the good old 80s due to their new wave beats,” says instrumentalist Oliver Höhne.
The oriental sounds of the opening song ’Shiraya’ about the moon goddess from the planet Naboo (’Star Wars’) once again allude to the beginnings of ShirayasDream even though their recent compositions are much more elaborate.

”Venus Calls” unites catchy songs for the dance floor, emotional ballads and theatrical synthpop opera with bombastic polyphonic choruses and sarcastic comedy (’Funeral’, ’Jolene’). If you’re willing to let it happen, Anna Aliena’s expressive classically trained mezzosoprano will draw you into a gloomy world of despair and disappointment. Her fans have already been used to her habit of switching between English, German and French. Nevertheless, the last song of the album, ’Morning Sun’, makes anguish and darkness dissolve in a new light of omnipresent love. Hence, ”Venus Calls” ends up as a call of hope which will not only be heard by gothic fans, but also by friends of sophisticated pop music with distinctive vocals.
