Shows like "Super Chef Battle" inspiration for funny mystery "A Corpse in the Soup"

December 29, 2009

"A Corpse in the Soup," follows four over-the-top TV chefs as they battle it out at the internationally televised Greatest Gourmet Gladiators Tournament. One won't survive.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 29, 2009 -- Sisters Morgan St. James and Phyllice Bradner confirm that the inspiration for their award winning comical crime caper, “A Corpse in the Soup,” published by L&L Dreamspell and Books in Motion, was found in shows like “Super Chef Battle” scheduled to air on January 3, 2010 on the Food Network.

Bradner’s late husband was a consummate fan of competitions like Iron Chef, and the sisters used the hype and flamboyance of competing TV chefs to set the stage for their “Greatest Gourmet Gladiator’s Tournament where one of the chefs, the bad boy of cooking, gets into some particularly hot water.

St. James says, “We watched chef shows to get the right energy into our over-the-top tournament, and researched extensively to see how the kitchens are set up. Then we added our chefs, sprinkled them with clues and controversies, and stirred up a murder mystery.”

Bradner adds, “The part that was really fun was coming up with the chef’s names: Caesar Romano, the romantic chef; Biff Wellington, the aerobic chef; Moishe Matsumoto, the king of kosher sushi, and Toulouse Jankowski, the Polish Cajun. Funny names are one of our trademarks in the Silver Sisters Mysteries, and the feature we receive the most mention in reviews and letters about.”

Silver Sisters Mysteries, featuring the unlikely identical twin duo of Goldie Silver, an over-the-hill flower child who owns an antique shop in Juneau, Alaska and her sister Godiva Olivia DuBois, a manipulative, wealthy Beverly Hills, California widow who writes the advice column, “Ask G.O.D.” promise lots of twists and turns along with surprise endings. The twins receive unwanted help from their eighty-year-old mother and uncle, former vaudeville magicians who love to dress in disguises and go undercover.
