FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 31, 2011 --
Jim Walker, 53, from Blackfen, Sidcup, who has driven his cab for 15 years and grew up in London, was inspired to produce a memento for tourists of the famous site which attracts thousands of visitors every month.
The game, Bridge-Up, is a three-dimensional recreation of Tower Bridge where players move around the board answering questions about the River Thames and the history of the bridge and surrounding area.
Having tested a prototype on his eight-year-old daughter Connie, the father-of-three was satisfied with his product and took it to licensing specialist, GamesplayUK.com.
His creation will be launched at the New York toy fair next month.
Mr Walker said: “I lived by Tower Bridge for more than 33 years and I used to play amongst the barges there. I always thought it was a magnificent bridge.
‘Iconic’
“I regularly drive across it, seeing tourists from all over the world day after day visiting this iconic landmark and I thought it would be great to keep that image at home so I set about with the idea of a board game.
“Tower Bridge is in its 125th year in 2012 and will be celebrated alongside the Olympics.
“The graphics and visuals are very strong, when you play, you really look and feel you are floating in the River Thames. I believe tourists will want to take a piece of their memory home in the form of a board game.”
