Laser therapy has been shown in several studies to have a very high rate of success in quitting smoking when performed by qualified professionals. The process involves treating acupuncture points with laser energy to reduce the nicotine cravings and a program to deal with the addiction. “Smoking is a life threatening disease and should be treated as such” says Taylor. “I believe it is unethical of these manufacturers and untrained therapists to be providing these services”.
There are some red flags to look for Taylor says. A very low price is one of these flags. When dealing with an addiction the client must have an investment in the treatment as well. Another red flag is the location of the practitioner. Many “spas” are now offering this service. Is your manicurist the one you want to count on to save your life?
Laser therapy can be very effective for many things including pain management and wound healing as well as dealing with addictions. It is up to the patient to find the most qualified practitioner to help them.
