South Florida RN claims, "Nurse Entrepreneurship Re-ignites Burned Out Nurses."

December 2, 2011

Nursing Coach offers burned out nurses the opportunity to rekindle their flame for serving others, by turning their clinical expertise into profitable products & services that make a difference.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 2, 2011 -- According to JAMA, "1 in 5 hospital nurses report that they intend to leave their current jobs within a year." South Florida Nursing Career Coach bets she can rekindle those burned out nurses into flaming nurse entrepreneurs in no time.

Just two short years ago, Fort Lauderdale resident, Anna Morrison, was just another overworked ICU nurse, saving lives on the red-eye shift. She'd arrive at work at 6:30pm every night, and after a shift full of caring for lives in the balance, would shuffle out to her car, barely able to keep her eyes open at 8:00am the next morning. Only to come back the same night and do it all over again.

"You know, I absolutely loved taking care of my patients and their families, but the constant alarms, bells, mountains of paperwork, regulations, certifications, committees, and the feeling of being pulled in so many directions at once just started to make my head spin. All I really wanted to do was care for others and make a good living, but the only way to do that as a nurse is to just keep piling on the overtime...which of course becomes exhausting. After months of this, I started thinking, there's GOT to be a better way!"

So, last year, Anna started her own Legal Nurse Consulting business evaluating medical malpractice cases for local attorneys. She made a lot of beginner's mistakes and eventually lost her business in a deal with a partner that went sour, but she learned a lifetime of valuable lessons.

Most importantly, she didn't let that deter her from her dreams of creating a nursing-based business that allowed her the freedom and income she desired, while still allowing her to have a meaningful impact in others' lives.

Fast forward to today, and you'll find Anna running a successful coaching business for nurses looking to start their own on- or offline business.

In addition, she speaks to local nursing and entrepreneurial groups about the lessons she's learned and the value of perseverance in business and in life. She also runs a nursing community blog for nurse entrepreneurs to support them through their transition from the 'bedside to the boardroom' of their own company.

"You know, I served for several days in Haiti after the earthquake, so for me being a nurse entrepreneur is not just about making money. It's very important to me to still be able to change peoples' lives with what I do. Now, I can finally say I LOVE life as a nurse. A nurse entrepreneur, that is."

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, "Forty percent of nurses have burnout levels that exceed the norms for healthcare workers. Job dissatisfaction among hospital nurses is 4 times greater than the average for all U.S. workers, and 1 in 5 hospital nurses report that they intend to leave their current jobs within a year."

"I read that statistic and it makes me cringe! I hope those nurses reach out to me. I could help keep them doing something they love - serving others - just in a much more balanced and profitable way. We don't have to throw out the baby with the bath water just because the hospital environment can be so stressful," Anna says.
