Special 5th Anniversary Celebration For Empire City Casino At Yonkers Raceway On Saturday

Yonkers, New York, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 3, 2011 -- Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway celebrates its Fifth Anniversary on Saturday, November 5, 2011 with a t-shirt giveaway, free play, and cash prizes!

It’s been a great five years: In 2001, New York State enacted legislation authorizing slot machines at racing facilities in the state and in June of 2005, Yonkers Raceway closed its doors to construct the new gaming operation. In late 2006, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway opened to the public. The majority of the profits from the casino are directed to the New York State Lottery to fund the state’s education system. Additional monies are directed to the racing industry in New York State.

In just five years, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway has generated $1.3 Billion for New York State education, and more than $105 Million for the City of Yonkers. The funds have also helped revitalize the racing industry and protect thousands of agricultural jobs in that area.

Five is the lucky number for this celebration. Empire Club members will receive $5 in Free Play, a 5th Anniversary long sleeve t-shirt and a chance to win a cash prize. Empire Club members will receive one free virtual entry into the cash giveaway. To activate the free entry, participants just have to insert their Empire Club Card in any slot machine. At 5pm, five Empire Club members will be called to each win $500 CASH and at 5:30pm one Empire Club member will be called to win $5,000 CASH! Participants must be present to win.

In July, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway broke ground on a $40 Million expansion that is expected to produce more than 200 new construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs at Yonkers’ largest employer and New York's most successful racino. The expansion has been praised for creating new jobs and giving a shot in the arm to local economic development activities which will build on the Raceway's billion dollar investment in schools in Yonkers and across New York State as Yonkers’ largest employer. The 66,000 square-foot space, which was part of the original casino construction approvals issued by the New York State Lottery and the New York State Racing and Wagering Board in 2006, will provide 30,000 square feet of additional gaming space, 20,000 square feet of food and beverage facility space, 6,000 square feet for a new casino entrance, and 10,000 square feet of office and administrative related space. The expansion will allow Empire City to reconfigure its current gaming layout, relocating 350 of its existing 5,310 slot machines while introducing 400 new electronic table gaming seats for its customers. This new space will significantly enhance the gaming and entertainment experience for patrons. Completion of the addition is expected in early 2012.
