Layar augmented reality adds the feature for visitors to point their camera-phone at a street, and see all Spotted by Locals tips around through the lens of their mobile phone. Pointing a camera-phone at a bar, restaurant or other type of spot, displays more information about it on the screen.

At this moment, the Layar augmented reality application is only available on the latest iPhone 3gs, and Android phones. Spotted by Locals visitors with other Internet-enabled mobiles phones can access all tips via its "regular" mobile websites. On these custom-made mobile cityblogs, visitors can search for spots in a specific category (like bars, restaurants, art & culture, shopping and places to relax) or spots within a specific neighborhood. Google Maps are provided with every article, and work seamlessly with GPS-enabled phones.
