SPX Global Walks for Clean Water

(Free-Press-Release.com) March 31, 2010 -- San Diego, California - March 21, 2010 – In recognition of world water day, SPX Global joined Project Concern International during their Walk for Clean Water on March 21, 2010. Raising awareness about the global water crisis, participants carried 5 gallons (40 lb buckets) of water along the shores of Mission Bay during the 5K walk. The walk represented the treks that millions of people make everyday to obtain clean water and highlighted the world crisis in which more than one billion people are without access to clean water.

The fundraiser, hosted by San Diego based Project Concern International, was inspired by the journey women and children make everyday to obtain clean water. According to George Guimaraes, President and CEO of Project Concern International, “Every fifteen seconds, a child dies of water-borne disease in the developing world. Safe drinking water, improved sanitation facilities and personal hygiene education are essential blocks in stemming the tide of poverty for many families and communities.”
