The new 2013 Veloster with a turbocharged engine appeared at the Detroit Auto Show, showcasing the vehicle’s increased performance and fuel efficiency from the engine upgrade.

The new turbocharged engine in the 2013 Hyundai Veloster will take the Veloster’s performance to the next level. The 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine delivers 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. A twin-scroll turbocharger is featured in the new engine and provides the 2013 Veloster with best-in-class specific output at 125.6 horsepower per liter and best-in-class weight to power ration of 14 lbs/horsepower.

In addition to performance, the 2013 Hyundai Veloster is given increased fuel efficiency with the new turbocharged engine. The engine gives the 2013 Veloster best-in-class highway fuel economy that is estimated at 38 MPG. Contributing to this fuel economy is its GDI fuel delivery system which transfers fuel more directly and with greater control. The twin-scroll turbocharger also increases efficiency by recovering energy that is wasted.
