FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 19, 2012 -- "Throughout the country, as well as throughout the world, many celebrities were born on March 17, which is celebrated as St. Patrick’s Day. So, in addition to the great celebration of the Wearin’ O’ the Green, drinking beer, and commenting about the luck of the Irish, certain celebrities, whether Irish or not, celebrate their birth dates on this day, as well.

St. Patrick’s Day was first celebrated as an official feast in the 17th Century. It was in recognition of one of the most popular patron saints, St. Patrick, as well as the arrival of the Christian faith in Ireland. St. Patrick was born in AD 387. St. Patrick’s Day lifts Lenten restrictions in Ireland regarding alcohol and fasting, and there are church services and wearing of the shamrocks to also recognize the day. Legend has it that St. Patrick used the three-leafed clover to explain what the Holy Trinity was to the Irish people who were not yet aware of the upcoming Christian religion. In today’s world, the celebration is the largest of all saints days.

Rob Lowe is certainly lucky during this period of his life, with a new movie coming out soon. He was born in 1964. And Soccer Superstar, Mia Hammond, born in 1972, also celebrates her birthday on St. Patrick’s Day. Gary Sinise, who played Lieutenant Dan in “Forest Gump” and is seen weekly on “CSI New York” also celebrates on the day. He will turn 57 this year. Kurt Russell, Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins, and Paul Kantner, the founder of the Jefferson Airplane, will all celebrate their births on the day, as well. And someone we can’t forget, but who is long gone having died in 1955, was Shemp Howard, who played the fourth stooge in the Three Stooges. He was born in 1895.

The first St. Patrick’s Day Parade was held in Dublin in 1931. Now New York City has a huge St. Patrick's Day party celebration beginning with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade every year. Irish pubs all over the world continue the celebrations serving green beer, wearing green attire, hats, and so on, and having a generally wonderful time.
