Steampunk Convention Coming to Austin Texas - Clockwork Con

Lubbock, Texas, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 17, 2012 -- Fans of Steampunk living in Austin, TX and the surrounding areas don't have long to wait before Clockwork Con, the first convention of its' kind in the city, kicks off.

"Clockwork Con is a celebration of all that is steampunk," said Alex Whisenhunt, the director of the convention. "Whether you're experiencing steampunk for the first time, or if you're a long-time fan, we hope to offer everyone who attends a great experience."

The convention will feature a number of celebrated steampunk artists, musicians, and personalities over a three-day series of shows, concerts, and panels. A number of guest panelists and entertainment acts will be coming to the Austin area from all over the country, culminating in a comedy show and burlesque show on Friday night, and a concert closing off the festivities on Saturday evening. Notable musical acts will include Marquis of Vaudeville, Steam Powered Giraffe, deejay DR Q, and Bones Jangle. Panelists will include the well-known steampunk groups Airship Isabella and Delirium of Grandeur, steampunk collaborative community founder Emperor Justinian, author O.M. Grey, and numerous others.

In keeping with the celebration of creativity, innovation, and individual possibility that steampunk embraces, Clockwork Con has a number of local businesses signed on to sponsor the event, including Roll On Sushi Diner, The Steeping Room, and talks are still in progress with a number of other businesses. "We want to set a precedent for collaborating extensively with individually owned and operated businesses," said Whisenhunt. "We'll have a number of Austin-based artists and artisans at the event, and their works will be available for purchase."

The convention will be held from January 20th to January 22nd at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 6121 North IH 35, Austin, TX, 78752.
