Steel SIP Home wins 2010 Aurora Award for "Best Energy Efficient Home" at SEBC show in Orlando

Marquis Construction & Development, Inc. was awarded the prestigious AURORA Award on Saturday during the Annual Industry Gala in Orlando. The winning entry, the “115 Waterberry” ” in the gated Waterberry Subdivision, is the Best Home in the category for “Best Energy Efficient Home” $325 - $350,000.
Each year, the AURORA Awards are presented to builders, developers, architects, planners, interior merchandisers, landscape architects and other disciplines actively involved in projects in a 12-state southeastern region plus the Caribbean who have demonstrated excellence in building and design.
“The Aurora Awards are the Grammys of the home building profession,” said Patti Guthrie, 2010 AURORA Award Chair. “The AURORA symbolizes tremendous achievement, honor and distinction among building industry professionals.”
The “115 Waterberry” was one of over 220 entries in this year’s competition. Leading industry professionals judged the entrants.

The home features an exercise loft with French doors opening to the third floor sun deck. Other features include; Cherry kitchen cabinets, granite tops, all marble floors throughout, 15 SEER HVAC systems, impact glass insulated windows / doors and steel barrel tile roof. The entire structural/thermal shell – walls & roof are constructed entirely with 6” Steel Insulated Panels supplied by www.SipDepot.com , all interior walls are steel framing. The steel Sips construction provides the owner with 60% lower utility bills, 53% lower insurance rates for long term sustainable housing.
