Stricker raring to go in Maui

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 11, 2012 -- The persistent injuries, which caused increasing weakness in his left arm and led to a loss of power off the TaylorMade R11 Irons , meant that he was not able to produce a top-10 finish during the final five months of 2011, despite winning twice on the PGA Tour earlier in the season.

Ongoing physical therapy and a couple of cortisone shots, however, have left him feeling positive ahead of the PGA Tour's season-opening Tournament of Champions in Maui this week.

"I've been doing some physical therapy at home, mainly massage treatments, pressure treatments," Stricker told Reuters.

"I did about six of those in a two-week period leading up to Christmas, and then continued that over here. I got another cortisone shot and I think that, too, has helped a lot. TaylorMade R11 Irons feel pretty good.

"I feel like I'm hitting a little bit further. If you look at the way I felt a year ago compared to now, I'm in much better shape."

At No 6 in the world, Stricker is the highest ranked player at Kapalua Resort this week, and is looking forward to getting his season underway with a solid performance.

The 11-time PGA champion was asked if he felt that, at 44, he was perhaps beginning to near the end of his career.

"Yeah. I turn 45 next month, so I think about TaylorMade R11 Irons," he said.

"But I also think about that I've played so well over the last six years that there's no reason that I can't continue to keep playing well. I'm not seeing any real changes in my game, and that's the nice part.
