Strippers run wild on the Isle of Wight

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 27, 2012 -- Isle of Wight Radio Broadcaster' Calder Jon has landed yet another primetime radio slot for his phenomenally popular radio show Calder's Confessions. 44 year old father of four, Jon ( who was born Calder Jon Hughes) is now attracting a global audience now that Global City Radio have decided to commission a 3pm to 5pm prime time slot at the weekends.

Global City Radio is the world's fastest growing radio station. In 2007 it started as a single DJ broadcasting a weekly podcast from their it grew to 44 presenters who included the Student Broadcasters of the Year, MTV's Dance DJ of the Year and Canada's No.1 Female DJ. The station's audio drama won awards two years running and has now been commissioned by the BBC to produce shows for BBC Radio 4. Last year under new ownership Global City split into two channels.
Global Radio 1 became a dedicated dance and chart music station and Global City Radio became “...a station aimed at discerning radio listeners who remembered great music first time around” explained the station's Commercial Director and Founder, Richard Hannah.

There was a clear out of some of the longer standing presenters and the station moved from Oxford to London with Global Radio 1 being run day to day from Canada. “We had done phenomenally well. We were broadcasting to 55 different countries picked up some awards but we needed to push on. Dividing the station made sense and we scoured the industry for new talent - Calder Jon is exactly what our weekend schedule you needed”.

Calder's Confessions is two hours of advice and guidance to ordinary people with problems. Listeners contact the show by Twitter or Email to share problems and Calder dispenses some straight talking advice interspersed with great music. The show is targeting 100,000 listeners and is set to be syndicated. Calder Jon is no stranger to this highly personal, audience interactive form of radio broadcasting. He worked with Jeremy Kyle on radio prior to Kyle's TV break, Calder had a problem page in a UK National Weekly magazine for nearly 5 years and still produces advice pages in The Canary Islands. Guildford born his easy style has been an instant hit with Global City Listeners and with Online radio now overtaking AM/FM listenership and digital replacing analogue as standard in the UK this year, Calder Jon seems to have timed it right to start to grow an online audience.
