FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 27, 2012 -- While most college students bemoan the difficult economic conditions and steeply rising tuition rates across the world, a young entrepreneur named Jaro is determined to raise a million Euros to donate to charity and fund his education by selling one million pixels.

Jaro’s recently launched website, MillionStarsHomepage.com, features a blank canvass of one million pixels, ready to be purchased by advertisers in 100 pixel blocks worth 100€ each. Each customer can choose the image displayed on their ad space, which will either link to their website or trigger a mouse-over pop-up window with their message. Every 100€ represents a 50€ donation to charities that fight poverty globally and 50€ toward Jaro’s dream of earning a Bachelor’s of Business Management degree.

Web marketing aficionados may recognize this strategy from English entrepreneur Alex Tew’s 2006 website, The Million Dollar Homepage, in which he successfully earned one million dollars by selling pixelated advertising space. The difference, according to Jaro, is his dedication to both charity and achieving a higher education. While Tew initially claimed his website was intended to fund his university studies, he dropped out after one term. Jaro, however, has been working toward his degree since October of 2010.

“My goal is to earn 1,000,000€ by selling virtual ad space and donate at least half of it to social institutions like UNICEF or ICRC,” said Jaro. “The other part of the revenue is meant for my studies. I named this website The Million Stars Homepage because anyone who contributes to the common good is—in my opinion—a real star.”

Purchases made on MillionStarsHomepage.com come with a one year cash-back guarantee. Jaro has promised to refund 100% of advertisers’ payments if he doesn’t sell half of the advertising space within one year, starting with the date the first pixelated boxes are sold. He has also committed to keeping the site up for at least five years, although his goal is to keep it online forever.

Advertisers can choose to pay via PayPal, AlertPay, or bank transfer. No obscene or offensive links are permitted.

“I am convinced this homepage will become famous on the Internet,” said Jaro. “It is a modern way of advertising and it was the right decision to fight against poverty.”
