The pilot program termed ‘Daily Discounted Appointments’ was launched in 2010 and is currently conducted through social network marketing only - specifically, Facebook and Twitter. The salon will "tweet" or “update” about a cancellation or opening and offer a discount to the client who fills it on the same day. Facebook and Twitter are not only letting the salon reach current clients, but it's attracting new ones as well, as more people are choosing to follow the salon's postings. Studio 180 Salon was the first hair salon in the triangle North Carolina region to offer an interactive discount service of this type.
