More than 30 TOP American universities are visiting India for collaboration with Indian institutions for offering their Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs in India. They will be participating in the Indo-American Education Summit on academic collaborations scheduled to be held during November 2009 in New Delhi (8th), Hyderabad (10th), and Bangalore (13th). The Summit is being organized by New Jersey based Indus Foundation.

Some of the World’s leading universities that will be participating in the Summit are Tufts, Case Western, Northeastern, Florida State, Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Clarkson, Concordia (Canada), Drexel, Temple, Oregon, Rochester, Massachusetts-Boston, South Dakota Tech, Wisconsin, and Widener. Their areas for collaboration cover a wide range including Science, Engineering, Medicine, Biotechnology, Environment, Management, and the Arts.

There are more than 600 major fields of study in the U.S. at various degree levels - Bachelor's (4 years), Master's (2 years), and Doctoral/Ph.D. (3 to 5 years). The on-campus programs to be offered in India by American universities in collaboration with Indian institutions would be degree programs at all levels. Students will receive degrees of the American Universities after successful completion of the programs in India. The American universities and Indian institutions will administer the degree programs jointly. Indian institutions collaborating with the American universities must have world-class facilities such as modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, audiovisual centers, computerized libraries, video conferencing halls, software development centers, and administrative blocks.
Dual Degree Programs:

Collaborative programs are also sometimes known as Dual Degree programs or Joint Degree programs in India. In these programs, Indian institutions will continue to offer their regular degree programs as per the Indian curricula and give Indian degrees after successful completion. Simultaneously, Indian institutions in collaboration with American universities will supplement their existing curricula with the additional curricula of American universities. Students who successfully complete the existing curricula and the additional curricula will be given degrees by American universities.
