FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 30, 2009 --
Last year, without expectations, the first annual Stuff the Bus event raised over 48,000 pounds of food. This food was distributed throughout the community in order to help feed those in need and offer holiday support to families.
Everyone involved was so grateful at the outpouring of community support and involvement. The first annual Stuff the Bus was able to help the Camas Fire Department’s C.A.R.O.L. program, Children’s Home Society of Washington in Washougal (CHSW) and The Treasure House in Camas, WA. All proceeds from last year’s event stayed right here in our local community.
This year there has been some question as to how the food will be distributed throughout the community. The Camas Washougal Business Alliance is sure there will be enough to go around. They are happy to announce that they will be supporting all of same programs and organizations. The only difference is, this year Washougal Fire Department has joined up with Camas to offer the C.A.R.O.L. program to Washougal families as well.
Both fire and police departments have graciously agreed to help out the day of the event by escorting the buses as they move through town to and from weigh-in. The Camas Washougal Business Alliance would like to thank you for your support!
Another great supporter of the event has been the Children’s Home Society of Washington. They have offered to allow room for the high school teams involved to wrap barrels, store equipment and a place for meetings preceding the event. They have also opened their doors to provide tours of the facility and share with the community how they help to deliver critical services to local children and families. This has been available to the students in both high schools, giving them an opportunity to see the great things their hard work does for the local area.
We encourage anyone who would like to volunteer to help on December 4th, with the unloading of the buses to contact Renee at the Children’s Home Society by calling 360-835-7802 or Nancy Wilson at the Treasure House by calling 360-834-4181.
