Subarus Make Great Valentines Gifts

Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine loves its customers by giving away a new Subaru for the 5th consecutive Valentines Day,.

For the past month, Adam Arens, Owner/President of Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine announced in a barrage ot television commercials, œImagine me handing you the keys to a brand new Subaru Impreza on Valentines Day. Well that day has come, and Stephen Gelinas from Durham, Maine received a cupid's arrow in the form of a brand new Subaru.

In what has become an annual event, Patriot Subaru heats up the winter with an exciting promotional giveaway. "It comes at a time of year where things can be a little flat." says Arens. "Post holiday, people have bills to pay, and the weather is a little crazy. That's a big selling point, because when the snow is flying, people really want Subarus. So we have lot of fun with this, and give a car away with no strings attached. No magic numbers or scratch cards. Its straight up registration, and we draw a winner."

Marketing Director Tom Talbott makes the call to the winner. "They never believe me" says Talbott. "This year I had to track the winner down at work. He was in a meeting when I called, so I left a brief message, not quite revealing the full story. After over an hour, there was no response, so I called back. The fellow who took the original message said he had given Stephen the message, but he had gone to lunch! I said...well, you might want to get on him when he returns!"

Unlike many car giveaways, Patriot does not take out an insurance policy to pay off the winner. Says Arens, œThis is our car, out of our inventory. It's not a "Hole In One Payoff". We pull a name out of all the entries, and they win. It's that simple. The MSRP on the Subaru Impreza 2.0i is $19,220.

Patriot distinguishes itself from the competition with unique marketing opportunities like giving away a Subaru in the middle of a Maine winter. Right as we were doing this, we had the NEMO blizzard. " says Brian Beattie, General Sales Manager. œ 30 inches of snow. We saw a real surge in registrations. We joke that on the big snow days, the only cars in the business parking lots are Subarus. Everyone else is stuck at home.

Patriot Subaru was the first Subaru dealer in Maine to ever sell 1000 new Subaru's in one year, a feat that was accomplished in 2012. œWe do the right things for the customers and employees. says Arens. œWe don't watch the bottom line. We focus on doing things right, and the result is a healthy bottom line. Patriot received a unique award in 2012, being ranked #1 in New England, and #5 nationally by Automotive News, as the œTop Dealerships To Work For. œWe've been here 9 years, and I can't remember a prouder moment then to hear that we'd received such an honor. It was very special. Patriot also received honors from Subaru of America, being the first Subaru dealer in New England to be certified Eco-Friendly. Noted Arens: œTwo years ago we earned the Energy Star Small Business Award for our environmental commitment. We've adapted policies and programs that make a difference to our community, and we hope that others can utilize the same techniques. We publish everything we do on the website, in hopes it will help others succeed in the same way. We didn't do it for publicity, we did it because it was the right thing to do.

Patriot has also established itself as an involved community citizen, donating and generating over a hundred thousand dollars to charitable organizations each year. Patriot employees are involved in many of the organizations.¨This past fall, the employees organized a fund raiser in support of Hurricane Sandy Relief, collecting over $5000. In turn, Patriot matched the donations, bringing the total donation to over $10,000. All dollars went to the Red Cross.
