“Our strategy wasn’t working with the growing number of volunteers we recognized and the increasing difficulty of tying into certain themes,” says Kristen Obaranec, the Y’s communications director. “Sean suggested we select an award that could be used every year and was not part of the theme. He helped us pick an item that reflects our image in the community and is meaningful to those who receive it.”

The award is a pewter plate that is engraved with the new Y logo and is personalized with the volunteer’s name and Y. “It is a beautiful gift, is appropriate for men and women, and we no longer have to come up with ideas each year to fit a specific theme,” Obaranec says.

“Suburban works with us at all stages of our event, and their employees are great. They’re always one step ahead and make us feel like a valued customer. My job is easier, because I know in advance the awards will be perfect and done before I need them.”
