SUICIDES - why the increase, is medication partly to blame?
In a 2 hour special radio special on Weds 18th January, Ross 'The Hammer' Hemsworth looks at why some many people are taking what is described as a very 'permanent solution to a temporary problem'
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 17, 2012 --
SUICIDE is a word we are hearing all too frequently at the moment, with so many celebrities either talking their own lives or making attempts at what they believe to be the easy way out. But as Sinead O'Connor rightly said on her website at the weekend after her own suicidal thoughts last week, why are doctors so keen to make it all 'chemical related' and prescribe drugs, when much of the time it is in fact emotional trauma. Is the wrong diagnosis and treatment actually pushing people futher over the edge?
All too often we are hearing of people being classed as BiPolar or suffering from clinical depression, but are the doctors and psychiatrists making some big and dangerous mistakes?
In my show tomorrow (Jan 18th) at 10 pm UK time (5 pm EST, 2 pm PST) I talk to people from all over the world that have either tried to take their own life, or have been affected by the suicide of others such as Don Hart who lost his talented musician son at the age of 17 to suicide, just before Christmas. They open their hearts and tll their own stories to the global audience that tune into my programme. I am also joined by representatives of The Samaritans and youth suicide charity Papyrus.
With Sinead now allegedly in hospital, Dean Windass on the news yesterday saying he has considered suicide twice in the past couple of weeks, the death of Wales manager Gary Speed, and many more not so high profile suicides that don't necessarily make the headlines, I hope that the media will get behind this campaign for awareness and highlight the show tomorrow night and perhaps follow up with some in depth features about depression, emotional trauma and suicide.
If between us we can save one life, we will have achieved at least some success. If we can alert the world to watch out for the symptoms and signs, we will have done so much more.
