Sundance, UT – May 2011– Today, Jeff Wolf, renowned western sculptor and Western Art Rodeo Association founder, and Russ Larsen, WARA CEO and sponsor, the law firm of Heideman, McKay, Heugly & Olsen (HMHO) together announced the success of the world’s first organized sport event featuring western art. The Western Art Rodeo Association (WARA) event was held at the Sundance Resort over the weekend. The very first art rodeo of this kind featured western sculptors, oil painters, dry medium artists, photographers and carvers and was open to all artists, art enthusiasts, art collectors and the general public.

“The WARA Spring Challenge at Sundance was a huge success for everyone involved. Some received prize money, some sold their artwork to collectors, others left with a valuable critique of their work, and everyone left with new friends and a greater appreciation for Western Art,” said Russ Larsen, WARA CEO. “We are very excited for the next event, which will surely be even bigger for everyone involved in the Art Sport. It will be announced on the Western Art Rodeo Association Website very soon.”

According to Jeff Wolf, Western Art Rodeo Association founder, the WARA Sundance Spring Challenge event was a resplendent achievement for the western art industry.

“Like a rodeo, the artists became contestants. The competition was exciting, educational and entertaining. The audience got involved with cheering and an occasional boo to the judges’ decision as they tried to match scores with the judges,” said Jeff Wolf, renowned western sculptor and Western Art Rodeo Association founder. “As this was a world’s first Western Art Rodeo, there were no blueprints to go by, but thanks goes to the artist directors, volunteers and a wonderful staff we had extremely exciting theater style production with big screen presentations of the artwork shown while being judged, with the artwork scores being flashed on the screen after time had expired and scores tallied made for a larger than life performance.”

Art Rodeo announcers, Kim Power Stilson & Sonny Olsen of the “Health, Wealth and Everything Else!” Radio Global eMedia talk show, in true sports fashion, kept the art rodeo event lively and interactive with radio and TV style interviews with the western art rodeo champions and contestants.
