Security checks around the world mean that larger items, such as engines, now need to be screened – usually by x-ray – before being transported by plane.

Difficulties in completing this for waste recycling and quarrying machinery equipment – due to the sheer sizes involved – means that the spares often need to be moved by road as opposed to by air - moving delivery times from overnight to a two-day service.

Julian Sharpe, managing director of Sure Equipment Spares, (SES) said: “With this in mind we’ve invested £100,000 in increasing stocks, to ensure we can continue to deliver to our customers quickly and overcome these logistics issues.”
