Boca Raton – The growing desire for online education is highlighted in a new study that also showcases the growing body of non-traditional students who through necessity must work and study concurrently. Education Connection provides this group with a service that is designed to meet their needs, offering matching to online degree programs.
According to a study from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, more students than ever are working while pursuing a degree. Currently, a total of 45 percent of individuals attending a four-year university work more than 20 hours per week and 23 percent of all college students are working moms or dads, according to the report.
In fact, researchers found that only 25 percent of today's degree seekers are traditional students - meaning they attend school full time while living on college campus and hold part-time jobs or work over the summer.
Study respondents noted they would like to return to school but need flexible, inexpensive learning options, such as those offered by online degree programs. Researchers report 57 percent of students surveyed felt they would be more likely to succeed in a college degree program if institutions of higher learning offered more online courses.
“The right school for many students today is not a traditional institution of higher learning, it is an online college that is flexible and caters to individuals that have work and family responsibilities,” says Todd Zipper, Chief Operating Officer at Education Connection.
Education Connection, with their Web site, www.educationconnection.com, can help these students find online colleges that are ideally suited for their academic and career interests, financial resources and lifestyles.
Unlike Web-only matching services, Education Connection has experienced admissions advisors available every day to answer questions over the phone. Advisers can guide students through the process of selecting ideal areas of study and help them choose the best academic institutions for different degree programs.
Through their blog and social media sites - blog.educationconnection.com, www.twitter.com/educonnection, and www.facebook.com/EduConnection - Education Connection keeps students informed of news and online tools that are useful to them in their educational pursuits.
Undergraduate and graduate courses are available at online colleges and students can earn degrees ranging from two-year associates to PhDs. Education Connection also provides information about financial aid options, admission procedures, credit transfers and preparing for education success.
