Tailgating Season Heats Up with Tailgate Warriors TV Debut
New Food Network show puts OC tailgating icon in the spotlight
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 7, 2009 --
Friends and supporters of local tailgate legend Jay “The Tailgate Guy” DiEugenio will gather at Mikey’s Sports Bar in Fullerton to watch the Food Network premiere of Tailgate Warriors with Guy Fieri on October 17th at 9pm Eastern/Pacific. The hour-long special will feature DiEugenio as a celebrity judge and resident Tailgate Expert as teams of tailgaters from Buffalo and Chicago face-off in a culinary competition.
Five years ago, DiEugenio left his job as a fire sprinkler engineer in Brea to become a professional, full-time tailgater. He packed up an RV and hit the road with his wife, Karen, and their three sons on a mission to tailgate at every stadium in the NFL. Along the way they collected recipes and wrote a cookbook titled, I Got Your Tailgate Party Right Here!
Today, DiEugenio travels and tailgates year round, visiting an average of 40 stadiums, ballparks, and racetracks every year, partying from coast to coast with the top tailgaters whom he counts among his friends. He says, “I’m learning the art of the pre-game party from those who do it best.” His travels are chronicled on the website, YourTailgateParty.com.
“People always ask me, THIS is your job?” DiEugenio laughs.
But it’s not all fun and games. DiEugenio regularly appears on local news stations in each market, promoting tailgating and presenting tailgating tips and recipes. This season, he is a brand spokesperson for Cholula Hot Sauce, and he makes special guest appearances at bars and mall stores to promote the World Series of Beer Pong. Okay, so maybe there is a lot of fun and games.
“Tailgating has just become this phenomenon, and we knew that the time was right for a competition-style television show. Karen and I had the great fortune of meeting with Guy and his producer at a NASCAR race,” DiEugenio recalls. “We were all on the same page. We know that there are hundreds of amazing tailgates throwing down some killer food, and we want to share them with the world.”
