As if to complete this horrible dream, the shadowed feminine figure from Phineas' previous vision once again became manifest, standing silently in the shadows.

He reached into his shirt for the tranquilizer, but suddenly found that he had lost the ability to control his body. It shook as if a million volts ran through it, and Phineas fell to his knees before the boy, Caleb. The room swiftly darkened, and was now filled with a myriad of lit candles. Only the four individuals remained.

“I so much wished for you to be my friend,” the boy spoke. “But you would not be this for me. It is your wish to control me, not to help me grow.”

“I am afraid it is too late for talk, my son," the Mystic King stated gravely. "It is time for penance.”

Phineas looked on in horror as the shadowed figure stepped into the flickering light.
